Each time you sign onto the Trade Secrets Web Site you see this guys smiling face. Thats our very own foodservice expert, Bill Main. Some of you may know Bill, or have heard him share his innovative solutions to common foodservice problems. But for those of you who dont know him, or wonder how he got his face on a Web site, here you go He has a restaurant management company. He speaks around the globe. He consults on restaurant strategic marketing, profitability and concept development. He writes monthly columns for trade magazines. He is Past President of the California Restaurant Association. He is even the father of thirteen-year-old triplets! Whew! A fifth generation Californian, Bill earned his B.S. in economics at Oregon State University, where he was a three-year All-Pac-8 Conference halfback and draft choice for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After a brief stint as a pro, he moved from the gridiron to the grill, starting his foodservice career at the famed fern bar Henry Africa's in San Francisco. From food and beverage director of the McKinley Park Hotel in Alaska to Oceanshore Restaurants, Inc., his restaurant management company, Bill has worked with more than 300 clients in 33 states and Canada. He also takes his expertise on the road, giving over 80 presentations each year to foodservice distributors and operators. Bill and his partner Barbara Geshekter have written numerous best-selling books on training and management. A nationwide lecture circuit and broad client base give Main a unique perspective on industry trends. He predicts, "The next few years will emphasize education and training like never before.
